Bankshot Theatre is dedicated to the silent art of pantomime and vibrant storytelling.
The name "Bankshot" comes from the game of pool, where, sometimes, the best shot isn’t a direct shot but a banked one, one that comes from a different direction.
Bankshot's style has been described as "vibrant storytelling". Each piece attempts to portray life and humanity through silent mime, traditional storytelling, and embodied poetry to offer healing, community, and hopefulness to audiences.
We strive to connect with audiences in the most effective ways possible. That's why so many pieces are silent, but sound and speech are welcome if they help make that connection. Bankshot celebrates the small, intimate, and mundane—the space where we all live.

Lelia Pendleton is a mime and storyteller who creates performances using silent mime, traditional storytelling, and embodied poetry. She is inspired by the timeliness of ancient legends and how they speak to current events. She focuses on the physicality and musicality of each section of the story.
She is drawn to stories of faith and the "human condition." She finds joy and beauty in the fragile and mundane. The current works reflect the challenges of being a mother, the struggles of despair and maintaining hope, and studies of love and faith.
Stage-struck at 6 when she was cast as the villain (a cat) in The Little Gingerbread Boy, she began acting in Richmond, VA. She founded the Laurel Street Mime Troupe, which toured Central Virginia for several years. She studied at the Celebration Barn Theater with Tony Montanaro. She's presented her original works, staged others', taught youth and adults, and amused the public at festivals.

It's good to know this so that when something tells you what not to do, you can recognize them as imposters. In other words, instead of saying, "Don't move," inspiration will say, "Stand still. Listen. Wait.
" Inspiration doesn't say, "Don't do that." It gives an alternative, "Do this instead."
